Janice Liknaitzky is a South-African born artist from Johannesburg who studied graphic art at the Michaelis School of Fine Arts at the University of Cape Town. After graduating she worked as a graphic designer in Johannesburg and Cape Town before travelling around the world. In 1991 she emigrated to Vancouver, where she also worked as a graphic designer before marrying and raising a family. Janice has spent her life looking at flowers. The inspiration for these pencil drawings came from flowers and plants in and around her sunroom and the bulbous, fleshy pods and seeds in her garden and the Main Street neighbourhood where she lives. When she isn’t drawing, painting or potting, Janice works as a children’s aide at a local elementary school.
