JOANNE CARTER - glass jewellery

Joanne Carter has always had a love affair with glass. She taught stained glass for 22 years and when she retired she discovered lamp working: the art of creating glass beads in an open flame. She uses an extensive colour range of glass rods imported from Italy, Germany and Japan and loves to work with molten glass. Each bead is created one at a time, by hand, without the use of moulds. Although similar ones can be made, the nature of each piece ensures its uniqueness. She works in her studio in a wooded area of our home in Surrey that allows solitude in which to work with wonderful views into the surrounding forest.
